About
Work for Good
Work for Good is an initiative developed by Hōhepa Hawke’s Bay to help people explore a career in disability support and strengthen the support workforce across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Work for Good has been developed by Hōhepa Hawke’s Bay to strengthen recruitment, development and retention across New Zealand’s disability support workforce.
We share practical information to help people understand support work, prepare for the role and explore a long-term career working alongside people with intellectual disabilities. Our resources are for people already in New Zealand and those considering moving here.
HŌHEPA
HAWKE’S BAY
Hōhepa Hawke’s Bay is a charitable trust supporting people with intellectual disabilities through homes, education, meaningful work and community participation. Our purpose is simple: every life fully lived.
From our school and farms to our creative workshops and social enterprises, we create opportunities for people to learn, build relationships and contribute to their communities. Our approach respects each person’s individuality, choices and aspirations, supporting them to take an active part in their own lives.
Our team includes people from many cultures and backgrounds. Through welcoming, training and supporting both local and migrant workers, we have learnt how much good preparation and ongoing support matter.
Hōhepa Hawke’s Bay leads Work for Good, a three-year project developing practical resources to help disability-sector employers recruit, welcome, develop and retain a diverse workforce. Through research, collaboration and shared learning, we aim to help migrant kaimahi thrive in Aotearoa and strengthen the disability support workforce.
Work for Good is made possible with funding from The Workforce Futures Fund | Tahua Rāngaimahi Anamata, operated by CSSITO, a registered charity committed to strengthening the essential workforces that support communities across Aotearoa. We gratefully acknowledge the Fund’s support, which enables us to develop and share resources that benefit the wider disability sector.
